VietNamNet Bridge – Speaking to the media in a press conference in Nha Trang City on January 18, an official of Khanh Hoa province said that the province is preparing for the Miss World 2010 pageant and seeking sponsors.

Miss World 2010 relocation scandal brewing

Nguyen Van Hoa, deputy director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Khanh Hoa province, said that Khanh Hoa is still determined to organize the pageant.

Huynh Ngoc Bong, chief of the Khanh Hoa People’s Committee office, said the change of the location reported by the media recently is inaccurate. The government has permitted Khanh Hoa to host this event.

Bong said that as it stands the government hasn’t changed its decision so Khanh Hoa is continuing to prepare for the event.

According to Bong, the government’s office has transferred RAAS Group’s request to change the location for the Miss World 2010 pageant from Khanh Hoa to Kien Giang to the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism for consideration.

On December 12, 2009, a representative of the Miss World Organisation presented its flag to Hoang Kieu, Chairman of the RAAS Group, in Johannesburg for holding the Miss World 2010 in Vietnam.
